This news talks about some doctors who are going to press ahead with a sit-in if the Hospital Authority fails to come up with a solution for an acute manpower shortage. It’s easy for me to understand why the Hospital Authority faces this difficulty.
The reason why the doctors quit seriously is because they have too much pressure. While they are working, they cannot make any mistakes. They paying attention all the time, it makes them feel tied. The pressure of the doctors is also caused by their patients. Some patients don’t trust them. Thus it makes the doctors lose their self-confidence.
Besides, their workload is anther factor. A doctor needs to work more than10 hours a day . In my opinion, it’s too long for the doctors to work over 10 hours a day. If the Hospital Authority had reduced the doctors workload, it would not have faced this staffing crisis.
To address this staff crisis, the Hospital Authority can do nothing but hire more doctors. The way to attract doctors to work in public hospitals is to increase the reimbursement of the doctors. Also, the Hospital Authority can give the doctors more benefits like more holidays so that they may feel more satisfied.
